Our church logo includes the phrase: “Spreading the Love of Christ” and our Mission and Outreach (M&O) Team truly exemplifies our motto. The M&O Team along with the rest of our congregation at New Hope UCC believes that caring for the wider community is an important part of extending God’s love and grace to all. Our M&O Team leads our entire congregation throughout the year with various initiatives that reach out to different organizations where we offer whatever we are able – food, other goods, financial contributions, time and energy. Previous partners include Milwaukee Rescue Mission, Good Samaritan Ministries, Karl’s Place, and Habitat for Humanity.
During our worship service we have something called our Friendship Greeting which is a time when we welcome one another to worship, building on the connections we have already fostered within our congregation. Our Friendship Greeting often takes visitors by surprise as we move around the sanctuary Spreading the Love of Christ to our fellow members and visitors. Oftentimes Pastor Carly has to ring the chimes to chorale everyone back to their seats so the worship service can resume.
Pastor Carly’s sermons often speak of the examples of love in the Bible, bringing a word of hope to an ever-changing world. She uses the compassionate ministry of Christ as a framework for how we can lead lives of authenticity and integrity, as we work toward peace and justice in our world.
